I would propose that the Age of Insights is transforming this phrase from Garbage In/Gospel Out, where people expect to have the right answer and aren’t really challenging it. But that paradigm has to change. You, the CM practitioner, have to be both the evangelist and agile leader of data and information quality in your organizations. - Presenter: Leisa Lemaster, US Air Force, Retired. An experienced Configuration Management Specialist of 37 years, Leisa brings energetic excitement to the world of CM. Leisa has worked both USAF and Foreign Military Sales programs in her career including F-16, F-15, Advanced Targeting Pods, Global Hawk, MQ-1 and MQ-9 Unmanned Air Vehicles. As the principle author of MIL-HDBK-61B Leisa is uniquely qualified to provide insight and understanding of the changes to this document. Leisa is a two time winner of the Teal Award for Excellence in Configuration Management and a member of the G-33 Committee.
- Presentation Topic: "MIL-HDBK-61B Changes and how they Affect Government Configuration Managers" MIL-HDBK-61B is not MIL-HDBK-61A (SE), this new document will show its users why you need CM, what to do (i.e. start with 649C, use the HB-649A for guidance), and how too sell CM to your program/project.
- Presenter: Mike Treadwell, CMPIC and CM Advocates. Mr. Treadwell is a CMPIC Associate Instructor and president of the Association for Configuration and Data Management (ACDM). He has served as CM assessor and consultant on business/management improvements, training others in the configuration management practices in accordance with the latest standards.
- Presentation Topic: "Newly Released 649-1A Standard Overview: CM for Defense Contracts" This talk will present an overview of the newly released (August 10, 2020) standard SAE EIA 649-1A - entitled Configuration Management Requirements for Defense Contracts. Changes from the existing EIA649-1 (released in 2014) will be discussed and presented in a tabular form that compares and contrasts the two versions of this important and critical CM Standard. A key focus on this overview will be the guidance provided by the MIL-HDBK-61B and tools within the 649-1A standard (The Tailoring Worksheet) that effectively and efficiently tailors the over 124 "shall" statements that the Acquirer can flow down to the supplier.
- Presenter: Lisa Fenwick, CMstat. Ms. Fenwick has been employed by CMstat - a leading provider of COTS Configuration Management and Contract Deliverables Management software – in a number of roles for the past 25 years. With a degree in Engineering from the University of Maryland and an extensive background in Mechanical Engineering and Configuration Management, she has provided support to various departments including Sales/Marketing, Training, Customer Support, Implementation, and Consulting and is currently the Vice President of Product Development. In the past 15 years, Ms. Fenwick has become very involved with new product development and standards compliance. She holds CMPIC CM SME and CMAssessor Certifications, is certified in Configuration Management (CMII-C) by IpX. and as a member of the SAE G-33 committee, is an active reviewer for both Configuration and Data Management standards.

- Presenter: Richard Anson, Bell Helicopter Textron. Richard H. Anson brings new ideas, implements state of the art systems, and architects business processes that express efficiency while establishing in a positive user experience. With over 20 years of growing experience in the aeronautics and defense industries, Richard has experience in strategic implementation, world-wide collaboration, and development of PLM methodologies designed into some of the most advanced software systems available. Richard is the Manager of Engineering Operations for Bell Textron Inc., an industry member of the SAE G33 Configuration Management organization, and managed battalion level operations in the United States Army. Richard graduated from Texas A&M University and holds an MBA from UTA and an MS in Systems Engineering from SMU.
- Presentation Topic: "Journey to a Model System" Bell Textron Inc. has evolved to a Model Based Definition environment for both engineering, manufacturing, and procurement. Transforming from a 2D drawing and document centric business to a 3D and digital collaborative space was not easy. This is an overview of the journey-to-date to integrate a large supply base, partners, and customers into a single digital system that leverages the efficiencies of a 3D modeling and Digital Product Definition environment while protecting intellectual property rights.
- Presenter: Harald Schwabe, usb GmbH, CMPIC Germany. Mr. Schwabe is a CM and PLM specialist for design and implementation processes and database applications, along with being a CMPIC Associate Instructor. He holds a degree in CMII and CMPIC Master's certification from the University of Houston. Since 1994 he has been working for usb GmbH in various projects and programs in the field of aerospace.
- Presentation Topic: "The World is Changing: CM in Dealing with Disruptive Technologies" The world is not only changing through of pandemics and other bad things! But our technology and ever increasing amounts of data through IOT and smart worlds, we have to position ourselves well and flexibly with CM. Here are new challenges for CM to not be the bottleneck in the future.
- Presenter: Michael Denis, Aviation & Aerospace Strategy, Capgemini. Michael Wm. Denis is a renowned author, speaker and consultant focused on service lifecycle management capabilities, servitization business models and enabling technologies primarily in the aerospace, aviation and transportation industries. He leads business strategy, enterprise architecture and technology engagements for Capgemini clients. Prior to joining Capgemini, Michael served as the Vice President of Strategy & Marketing for an aerospace software and business process services company, principal at several aviation consulting firms and began his career as a gas turbine engineer and surface warfare officer in the U.S. Navy. Michael holds a Master of Decision Science from the J. Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University and a Bachelor of Nuclear Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

- Presenter: Thomas Hedberg Jr, U of Maryland, Applied Research Laboratory for Intelligence and Security (ARLIS). Dr. Hedberg leads the Acquisition and Industrial Security mission area at the University of Maryland Applied Research Laboratory for Intelligence and Security (ARLIS). ARLIS is a University-Affiliated Research Center (UARC) based at the established in 2018 under the auspices of the Office of Undersecretary of Defense for Intelligence and Security (OUSD(I&S)). ARLIS is intended as a long-term strategic asset for research and development in artificial intelligence, information engineering, acquisition security, and social systems. Dr. Hedberg conducts Intelligence and Security research in the areas of product design, manufacturing, and lifecycle engineering using information modeling, knowledge engineering, ontologies, system integration, and advanced optimization techniques. Dr. Hedberg joined ARLIS from the Engineering Laboratory (EL) at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). At NIST, Dr. Hedberg was the Program Manager of the Model-Based Enterprise (MBE) program and the Co-Leader of the Smart Manufacturing Systems Test Bed, which earned him the Department of Commerce Gold Medal in 2019. Dr. Hedberg has a strong interest in the areas of model-based enterprise, smart manufacturing, product-lifecycle management (PLM), data/information flows across supply chains, and long-term data archival and retrieval (LOTAR). Dr. Hedberg is the Chair of the ASME MBE Standards Committee, a voting member of the ASME Y14.37, Y14.41, and 14.47 standard committees, and a member of ISO TC184/SC4/WGs 11, 12, 15, 21 and the ISO TC184/SC4 Quality Committee. Dr. Hedberg earned a B.S. in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from Purdue University, a M.Eng. in Engineering Management with a concentration on Systems Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University, and a Ph.D. in Industrial and Systems Engineering from the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Dr. Hedberg is a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the States of Arizona and Maryland.
- Presentation Topic: "Integrating Industrial Things with Models and the Digital Thread" We live in a connected world. Two people on opposite ends of the world can communicate in an instant with only their thumbs and a six-inch touch screen. Families can communicate from remote parts of the world and watch graduations, birthday celebrations, etc. with streaming video. However, our manufacturing and production systems still use email and faxes as the main form of communication. Even worse, many organizations still manage the configuration of their systems and products using spreadsheets and disconnected databases. Why has manufacturing not moved into the digitally connected 21st century? Is the issue with technology? Or is the issue with social culture? This presentation will explore recommendations for manufacturing to integrate its "things" with models and the digital thread to overcome socio-technical challenges. A brief discussion around standards will also be provided.

- Presenter: Albert Whale, Sr. Security Mgr. Dev/Sec/Ops "A Team". Mr. Whale’s experience with network & Cybersecurity issues, as well as the techniques that the Hackers are employing, provides his clients with a unique understanding of the vulnerabilities, and techniques may be used to mitigate the issues. Applying these techniques and principles has aided his ability to Architect better solutions for organizations moving forward.
- Presentation Topic: "Achieving Dev/Sec/Ops in your environment" Configuration Management is an integral component of a Robust DevSecOps offering. Establishing the correct foundation for the organization is essential for developing the Automation and Integration of CM as Code, Infrastructure as Code and so on. The secret sauce to maturity begins with the correct assessment, and the initial pilot. Your efforts in Configuration Management and implementation in automation can only be as strong as the foundation you start with.

- Presenter: Jeremy Bellay, Data Scientist, Cyber Trust and Analytics, Battelle Memorial Institute. Jeremy Bellay, Ph.D. Specializes in problems that require the combination of complex knowledge structures with sophisticated data driven approaches. He is particularly interested in the monitoring, forecasting and risk assessment of emerging technologies. In addition to leading numerous R&D efforts at Battelle, he led the TAME Forum Hardware Assurance Weakness and Collaboration and Sharing working group, and is a participant in the SAE G32 Hardware and Assurance effort. He is currently leading an effort to establish a detailed physically hardware vulnerability ontology and the ecosystem of tools to support data driven assessment of electronic technology risk.
- Presentation Topic: "Cyber physical systems security across multiple industry sectors" The field of computer and communications security has traditionally viewed hardware as an immutable root-of-trust. However, the last decade of hardware security research has led to the discovery of hardware-oriented weaknesses that can be exploited remotely, in the supply chain, through physical access, or through any combination of the three. Software security has greatly benefitted from a clear system for sharing information about vulnerabilities and weaknesses. Here we describe the current landscape for vulnerability sharing and how hardware vulnerabilities fit, as well gaps due to the particulars of hardware security.
- Presenter: Vincent Mankowski, NAWCAD Patuxent River. Vince Mankowski is the Assistant Program Manager, Configuration & Data Management in the NAVAIR Training Systems Program Office (PMA205) located at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, MD. Following a twenty year career in the Marine Corps he has been an acquisition professional, configuration & data manager, and a project manager in IT systems, heavy rail, medical laboratory, and AWS cloud services. Vince lives in Southern Maryland near 8 of 10 children and 16 of his 18 grandchildren. He enjoys scale modeling, reading, college football, and searching for the last nerve in his beautiful wife of 17 years.
- Presentation Topic: "Enterprise Software CM: Viewing The Gem Through Another Facet" Enterprise Software CM: Viewing the Gem Through Another Facet will discuss the view of the Government Acquisition Configuration Manager to compare and contrast with the view of an industry or corporate Configuration Manager. While each share common goals, and even (some) common guidance, they have very different stakeholders, customers, and disposition processes. Within those differences, how can the Government Acquisition (Leviathan) try to match the speed of Industry in processing changes? I'll give some tips and examples to increase speed from our experience.

- Presenter: Jeremy Bellay, Data Scientist, Cyber Trust and Analytics, Battelle Memorial Institute. Jeremy Bellay, Ph.D. Specializes in problems that require the combination of complex knowledge structures with sophisticated data driven approaches. He is particularly interested in the monitoring, forecasting and risk assessment of emerging technologies. In addition to leading numerous R&D efforts at Battelle, he led the TAME Forum Hardware Assurance Weakness and Collaboration and Sharing working group, and is a participant in the SAE G32 Hardware and Assurance effort. He is currently leading an effort to establish a detailed physically hardware vulnerability ontology and the ecosystem of tools to support data driven assessment of electronic technology risk.
- Presentation Topic: "Cyber physical systems security across multiple industry sectors" The field of computer and communications security has traditionally viewed hardware as an immutable root-of-trust. However, the last decade of hardware security research has led to the discovery of hardware-oriented weaknesses that can be exploited remotely, in the supply chain, through physical access, or through any combination of the three. Software security has greatly benefitted from a clear system for sharing information about vulnerabilities and weaknesses. Here we describe the current landscape for vulnerability sharing and how hardware vulnerabilities fit, as well gaps due to the particulars of hardware security.
- Presenter: Vincent Mankowski, NAWCAD Patuxent River. Vince Mankowski is the Assistant Program Manager, Configuration & Data Management in the NAVAIR Training Systems Program Office (PMA205) located at Naval Air Station Patuxent River, MD. Following a twenty year career in the Marine Corps he has been an acquisition professional, configuration & data manager, and a project manager in IT systems, heavy rail, medical laboratory, and AWS cloud services. Vince lives in Southern Maryland near 8 of 10 children and 16 of his 18 grandchildren. He enjoys scale modeling, reading, college football, and searching for the last nerve in his beautiful wife of 17 years.
- Presentation Topic: "Enterprise Software CM: Viewing The Gem Through Another Facet" Enterprise Software CM: Viewing the Gem Through Another Facet will discuss the view of the Government Acquisition Configuration Manager to compare and contrast with the view of an industry or corporate Configuration Manager. While each share common goals, and even (some) common guidance, they have very different stakeholders, customers, and disposition processes. Within those differences, how can the Government Acquisition (Leviathan) try to match the speed of Industry in processing changes? I'll give some tips and examples to increase speed from our experience.
