TRAINING CLASS DESCRIPTIONS:



CMPIC Course 6: "SAE EIA-649C Principles and Applications" certification

This course content will address the full standard while explaining the logic and meaning behind the various EIA-649 principles, and offering options for implementation approaches and how best to apply the standard in various environments. Each student will receive a licensed PDF copy of the latest version of "SAE EIA-649C Standard for Configuration Management". This standard offers valuable advice on requirements for achieving successful CM implementations for both commercial as well as government organizations.

CMPIC Course 9: "Configuration Management Standards and Practices Update" refresher course

This 2.5-day course is designed for Configuration Management (CM) professionals who are responsible for CM process improvement in their organization. The course will provide an update and overview of current Industry CM standards, industry practices, CM Tools, and overall trends. The purpose of this course is to assist in keeping your CM skills and education up to date. This course will be updated regularly to reflect current standards, methodologies, and other advances in the profession.

Prerequisites required for this course: Attendees should be familiar with Configuration Management practices as this course is not intended to teach basic CM principles and implementation practices. Attendees should have at least 2 years experience in CM, QA or Project Management.

CMPIC Course 7: "CM Assessor Certification"

This advanced skills course is designed for Configuration Management (CM) professionals who are responsible for CM process improvement in their organization. The course will teach assessment techniques used to uncover deficiencies in existing processes and identify areas of improvement. The assessment technique uses a comparative approach, assessing current practice in all major elements of CM to internationally recognized industry best practice as defined in the recently updated SAE-EIA-649 Rev C Standard for Configuration Management. Students will also learn about other major industry standards and quality initiatives such as ANSI/EIA-649, CMMI, ITIL, MIL-HDBK-61, that may be referenced in assessments. During this course, students will use a realistic scenario to actively plan and prepare an assessment and produce the corresponding assessment report for a real world hands-on experience. The skills learned in this course will provide a sound basis for conducting future assessments that will enable them to move forward with CM process improvements.

Prerequisites required for this course: Attendees must have completed CMPIC Course 6, "SAE EIA-649C Principles & Applications Certification".

NEW COURSE! CMPIC Course 16: "CM Planning Certification"

This course will discuss the "Big Picture" of why we need to plan for CM, as well as lead you through the approaches and considerations for coming up with your own CM planning and your resulting CM Plan. We will look at terminology, documenting the outcome, and the details of what needs to be planned for.

Prerequisites required for this course: Attendees must have completed CMPIC Courses 1-4 (CM Principles & Implementation Certification) and CMPIC Course 6 (SAE EIA-649C Principles & Applications Certification) before attending this course.
