Why does my organization need Configuration Management Training?
Understanding and implementing CM correctly can reduce costs, increase productivity, and enhance communications throughout the entire organization. Having CM will improve the speed and ease in which you can find the information you need. It will also provide you with metrics to tactfully improve your entire organization. Imagine having less corrective action, less fixes, and wasting less money. CM won’t slow you down. In fact, proper CM can help your entire organization react quickly, accurately, and function smoothly.

Training your employees is the number one way to improve configuration management within your organization. Your CM people may not know the full potential of their jobs due to the fact that they may have never been properly educated in all the facets of CM. And even if they have been trained, they may be stuck with the same old processes and feel unmotivated to make CM work effectively. CMPIC can help. We give our students the tools and options to create and improve their CM processes. Students will learn about the most current CM practices and guidelines that can help your company achieve continuous improvement.

What is CMPIC's view on Industry Standards?
CMPIC believes that industry standards and guidelines for Configuration Management form a solid foundation for CM process implementation. This is why CMPIC’s course material is based on current industry-approved standards.

Standards discussed include the latest versions of: SAE EIA-649, 649-1, ISO 10007, ISO 9001, DOE-1073, FAA 1800.66, MIL-HDBK-61A, CMMI, ITIL, Code of Federal Regulations, and many more.

Industry standards are well written and have been developed by experienced professionals who care about and understand configuration management and continuous improvement. Standards discussed will not only be quoted in class, but also interpreted to provide you with the true intent behind the words. In addition, ways to implement and meet requirements will be thoroughly discussed.

Class approach: (1) know the requirements of the standards; (2) identify any additional requirements that may be necessary; (3) learn the various implementation options and how to put them into practice.

How does CMPIC determine the length of its certification courses?
A search of the internet will show you that Configuration Management certification programs vary in length, from as few as 2 days to as long as 12 days.

CMPIC will determine the amount of time needed for each class based upon an outline of topics needed to adequately cover the subject and trial training simulations.

What does achieving a CMPIC certification mean?
Certification has different meanings. Some programs certify individuals based on years of experience and testing, while others certify based on the completion of a training program.

In our case, CMPIC certification means the individual successfully passed an approved course of study (or set of courses) by attending the mandated hours of classroom instruction and demonstrating proficiency through examination(s).

Are your courses focused on a specific environment?
CMPIC courses are not environment-specific. Our courses and course examples have been written with a variety of implementation environments in mind.
